Acceptable use policy

Last updated 20 September 2026

Duta is taking accounts now. This policy is published so it can be read before you sign up, and it takes effect the day the service starts accepting customers.

This policy is part of the Terms of service between Duta and every account holder. It exists because one sender behaving badly damages inbox placement for everyone sharing the infrastructure, so the rules below are enforced automatically rather than on request.

What Duta is for

Transactional email: messages a recipient has asked for or expects as a direct result of something they did. One-time passcodes, password resets, order and booking confirmations, receipts, invoices, shipping notifications, account and security alerts.

What you may not send

Sending from a domain

You may only send from a domain you control and have verified through DNS. Consumer mailbox domains such as gmail.com, yahoo.com and outlook.com are refused as sender domains, because no customer can prove ownership of them. Verified domains are re-checked periodically and lose sending rights if their records are removed.

Suppression

Hard bounces and spam complaints suppress the recipient automatically and permanently. This cannot be turned off, and those entries cannot be deleted. Addresses you suppress yourself can be removed by you at any time.

Rate and reputation

New accounts start at a low daily limit and earn capacity over roughly two weeks, conditional on clean bounce and complaint rates. An account is throttled at a 3% bounce rate or a 0.08% complaint rate over a rolling day, and paused at 5% or 0.1%. You are told which figure tripped and what to do about it.

Enforcement

Confirmed abuse results in immediate suspension, not a warning. Suspected abuse results in a hold while a human reviews the account. We do not refund credit consumed before a suspension caused by a breach of this policy.

Report abuse to abuse@duta.indra.sh. Reports are read by a person and acknowledged within one business day.
